It may have rained all week, but that didn’t stop the laughs at the 42nd O. Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championships Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Brush Square Park.

Thanks to the generosity of the Hilton Austin, the festivities, usually held outside behind the O. Henry Museum and Dickinson House moved across the street to one of the large, dry, comfortable ballrooms at the hotel. The Hilton Austin gra...

The tradition continues on Tuesday, September 13th, from 7 to 9 pm when Austin's literary community gathers to celebrate the 154th birthday of former Austin resident and prolific short story writer William Sydney Porter (a.k.a. “O. Henry”) AND applaud Central Texas writers who published a new book in 2015-2016.

The May 2015 38th Annual O.Henry Pun-Off World Championships is now history! Multi-medalist Benjamin Ziek of Glendale, California once again clawed his way to the top of the heap with another rare "two-fer” triumph in Puniest of Show and PunSlingers.

Rare for others maybe, but not for Ben, as this is his third repeat of double-win trophies, an unprecedented feat never before accomplished by any pu...

We had a cake covered in 152 candles ready to light at our, September 11th museum party. The firemen from the next door station doused it. We ate another cake, of course!

We also used the occasion to recognize local writers and their work published in 2014.

Thank you to our wonderful donors, board members, museum staff, and volunteers for a successful fundraising event!

We want to thank both our speakers, Donaly Brice and Fletcher Clark for our Annual Meeting presentations. Did you know that Susanna was wounded in the leg at the Alamo? That was just one little known fact I learned from Brice’s talk. We also heard the premier performance of Clark’s song “The Ballad of Susanna Dickinson” with touching lyrics that capture her search for “a Good Man in Texas – one wh...
