Happy 153rd Birthday, O.Henry!

An unlikely thunderstorm could not spoil the evening at O. Henry’s Birthday Party celebrated at the Brush Square Museums Thursday, September 10. Foundation members, special guests, and museum staff were all on hand to mark O. Henry’s birthday with fellowship, refreshments, and of course, a birthday cake covered with 153 lighted candles.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of 52 local writers (PDF) who published a book in 2015. Austin’s vibrant writing community would certainly make O. Henry proud.

Funds raised at the birthday party will help support the O. Henry and Susanna Dickinson Museums. The O. Henry house is particularly in need of restoration, so the board appreciates all the generous donors, volunteers, museum staff, and board members who made the fundraising event a success! Thank you!
